What I think is going on with Chinese real estate

Filed under: china, finance, Uncategorized — twofish @ 11:18 am

Here is what I think is going on.  Beijing wants to cool the real estate sector.  Cooling real estate is going to make a lot of people mad.  So a lot of the measures that are coming out from Beijing, are intended to “spin” the measures so that people aren’t so mad.  It’s clever public relations.  It’s arguing that the main purpose of cooling the real estate market is to make housing affordable, which gets the support of a lot of people and which shuts up anyone who complains (i.e. you are just a rich brat).  There also something of the old game of “blame the foreigner.”
